HIPA Launches New Supplier Development Service

2025. 05. 15. -

A comprehensive database of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), containing information on more than a thousand companies, is now open to online registration, making it easier than ever for investors and suppliers to connect.

Operating as a dedicated subpage of the HIPA website – https://hipa.hu/supplier/ –, the new supplier development portal aims to link Hungarian SMEs and large enterprises with investors already active in Hungary or at the stage of entering the market.

The service is available free of charge and supports not only the preparation and implementation phases of investment projects, but also every step of the operational stage. From site selection to monitoring day-to-day operations, investors can find reliable local partners in all key areas.

HIPA’s in-house, sector-independent database was launched with data from more than 300 service providers and over 700 manufacturing companies. The new service was presented by István Joó, Government Commissioner and CEO of HIPA, at the Automotive Hungary 2025 trade fair at Hungexpo in Budapest. He emphasized how easy it is to register in the database through HIPA’s website and encouraged all companies wishing to operate as suppliers to take this opportunity.

You can count on HIPA to offer financial support to those suppliers capable of delivering products and services to foreign companies entering the Hungarian market

– underlined the Government Commissioner for Investment Promotion and Implementation of Large FDI Projects.

This is precisely one of the main objectives behind the restructuring of HIPA’s incentive system. Under the new framework, foreign investors may undertake commitments such as sourcing 30% of their suppliers from within a 100-kilometer radius of their investment site. They are also expected to take part in HIPA’s supplier development programme.

With tall these initiatives, HIPA aims to match supply and demand in a more proactive and regulated manner than ever before, forging strong connections between international investors and Hungarian companies.

HIPA was established in 2014 as a national investment promotion organisation, governed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The agency’s most important task is to provide professional assistance to foreign and Hungarian companies wishing to invest in Hungary. Between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2024, HIPA guided 2,200 projects in value of EUR 59.2 billion to create almost 170,000 new jobs.  In 2024, investment capital inflow exceeded the EUR 10 billion mark for the second year in a row; investors placing their trust in Hungary decided to launch 77 projects with HIPA’s support, injecting EUR 10.3 billion of fresh capital in the Hungarian economy and creating 18,500 new jobs.
