Hungarian Electraplan and German cable tray system specialist Niedax have announced a EUR 72.5 million joint investment in Hungary, the new facility will produce infrastructure components for Germany’s large-scale railway upgrade program.

The plant in Vésztő (South-Eastern Hungary) will produce fiberglass-reinforced cable tray systems and covers. With a manufacturing capacity of 5,000 kilometers per year, the facility’s output is already secured by a seven-year order backlog, destined for tens of thousands of kilometers of the German rail network.

Supported by the HIPA Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, the project aims to develop an industrial complex of over 23,000 square-meter, including a production hall, warehousing capacity, direct railway connection and a solar panel system coupled with energy storage.

The investment is set to create 96 new jobs in the town of Vésztő in Békés County.

Founded in 1994, Electraplan has been cooperating with Niedax for over three decades. The new project will be implemented through a joint venture company.

HIPA was established in 2014 as a national investment promotion organisation, governed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The agency’s most important task is to provide professional assistance to foreign and Hungarian companies wishing to invest in Hungary. Between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2025, HIPA guided 2,305 projects with a value of more than 66 billion euros to create close to 187,000 new jobs.
