In the new era to come, electromobility and self-driving vehicles will be the focus of the automotive industry, and this represents a challenge not just for Hungary, but for the whole industry. The delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó met with more than 20 leading companies from the region, including Tesla executives, as part of a visit lasting several days.

As 30% of industrial emissions in Hungary come from the automotive sector, it is crucial for the country's economic success and stability for Hungary to be successful in this new global era for the motor industry. It is also important for Hungary to collaborate with the automotive companies that will be the key players in the new era.

Our aim for today's meeting was to put Hungary on Tesla's map of countries that are placing a special emphasis on the automotive industry,

said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó after meeting with Tesla's Director for Business Development and Government Affairs.

According to the minister, the company's representatives positively valued Hungary's tax breaks for R&D and investment, low tax levels, and the fact that Hungary was the first country in Central Europe to adopt an e-mobility strategy. Also important is the fact that Hungary has more electric vehicle chargers (403) than any other Central European country, a figure that will increase to more than 3,000 by 2019 under a government programme.

During the meetings, the company reached a decision to build two Tesla Superchargers in Győr and Nagykanizsa.
