The Government of Hungary Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Flex

2025. 09. 08.

Flex, one of Hungary’s most significant employers, is carrying out another investment at its plant in Zalaegerszeg. The U.S.–Singaporean enterprise, present on the Hungarian market for more than three decades, will launch a vehicle electronics research and development project as a result of the expansion, creating 10 new high value-added jobs. On the occasion of announcing the EUR 4.68 million project, a Strategic Cooperation Agreement was also signed between the Government of Hungary and the company.

Founded in Silicon Valley and now registered in Singapore, Flex has grown over the past 50 years into a multinational diversified manufacturing company with more than 100 operations in over 30 countries. The company designs and manufactures smart products that connect people and technological developments in 12 industrial segments. Its partners include prominent companies like Bose, Google, Lenovo, and Nike.

The company’s manufacturing activities in Hungary primarily cover automotive, consumer, residential, and industrial electronic products. Its Zalaegerszeg units are equipped with their own R&D&I department, focusing specifically on the development of high value-added power electronics. This is where Flex is carrying out its second Hungarian research and development project, further expanding the capacities of the existing center with an investment dedicated to predicting the lifetime of high-voltage automotive electronic units. The initiative applies advanced modeling and simulation techniques in order to improve product reliability and increase vehicle safety.

Flex is also a prominent example of long-standing cooperation between companies and academic institutions. With its latest EUR 4.68 million investment, the company is further strengthening partnerships with the University of Pannonia and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

The investment will create a total of 10 high value-added R&D-related jobs.

Throughout its three decades in Hungary, Flex has shown its commitment as a long-term partner to Hungary through continuous reinvestments.  This is why, along with the announcement of the investment, the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Hungary and Flex was signed, with the aim of further strengthening the U.S.–Singaporean company’s activities in Hungary. Flextronics International Ltd. has become the Hungarian Government’s 99th strategic partner.
